Throughout a 35-year career spanning academic, commercial and DoD organizations, I have focused on four areas: |
Algorithm development includes developing pattern recognition tools, to distinguish (depending on the area of interest) different types of geology, different types of satellites, different types of space objects.
Algorithm development;
Prototyping; Analysis; and Communication |
Prototyping includes software tools I've written to get quick answers, often when programming help was unavailable or required too much spin-up time.
I have worked in oil exploration, space surveillance, tracking and discrimination; using data from acoustic, optical and infrared sensors. |
Analysis includes using my own prototype code; pencil-and-paper calculations; and government- or industry-validated analysis tools.
Communication runs the gamut: From my Doctoral dissertation and presenting papers at conferences, to proposal writing, to helping someone who visits my office wanting to determine a missile trajectory.
In addition to these four areas, I have considerable PROJECT management experience. I am proud of the fact that I never felt the need to become a manager (to quote Seinfeld, "not that there's anything wrong with that"). I was able to make myself a valued contributor to my employers, find personal satisfaction, and make a good living while remaining technical. |
